Ah December. A month filled of holiday joy and tradition. Whether you're lighting a Kinara, spinning a Dreidel, wrapping gifts, or spending time with a book by a fireplace, December is filled of warmth and happiness.
To spread this holiday cheer and happiness, Booya and Shazam combined forces to give back to their community with hopes that those they've touched will be able to experience the subtle joys of life and smile.
On their trek to that pursuit of happiness, Booya-Shazam went to volunteer at Paul's Place, Inc.
Paul's Place "serves as a gathering place for neighbors in Washington Village/Pigtown. Young and old, children and families are welcomed, treated with respect, offered a hot meal and support, and given the opportunity to participate in shaping and building a strong, stable community."

Sending over a group of physical workers, tons of food, and time, Booya&Shazam were able to contribute:
- a bin (about 5x3x3 ft.) full of pancake and brownie mix, canned soup, vegetables, and fruit, and syrup.
- bags and boxes filled of donated clothes and toys.
- workers to transport donated items from cars to Paul's Place.
- time to organize the donated food into categorized areas.
- and stress relief for Paul's Place staff who constantly work hard, year-round, to provide their community with basic necessities.
We weren't looking for anything in return but the staff of Paul's Place graciously gave us a tour of their inner workings. It truly is an amazing feat that they've accomplished. On the second floor, they've established little markets of donated clothes, food, and toys that are open for anyone who needs it for free. On the first floor, they've allotted a community room where food is served and feasted upon. It was inspirational to see how much can be done out of the goodness of one's heart and soul. There is no doubt in my mind that Booya-Shazam will be a frequent volunteer of Paul's Place. They welcome anyone who step in their doorways with open arms. Genuinely great people. I thank them for the work they do and their hospitality.
On subsequent treks, Booya-Shazam helped out their fellow comrades at UMBC by contributing to other Student Organization's Donation Drives and fulfillment of Christmas Miracles.
Such events include:
- A Coat Drive
- A "Fulfill a Wish for a Child in Need" Secret Santa event
- and A Toy & Blanket Drive
